We have no idea who "Leslie" was, the names were added by Stacey's mum who probably just got a bit muddled up!

Yatesbury Wireless School, 1943

Yatesbury, 1943 – Stacey is in the back row, second from the left. The chap on the right hand side in the back row was Horace Medlock. He was shot down and killed on his first operation. Next to him is Fred Ming, who survived the war – Stacey met him on de-mob day.

(I look at this picture, and especially at my Dad and Horace Medlock, and think it could quite have easily been the other way round - and I wouldn't be here)

AFS Group Photo 1940

The photograph below was taken early in 1940 outside the old London Salvage Corps Station in Watling Street. The people pictured are a mixture of Salvage Corps, LFB (London Fire Brigade) and AFS (Auxilliary Fire Service). Stacey Simkins is second from the left.

(I can't believe that my dad was only 15 or 16 in this picture! I love his cheeky grin and that he's wearing his hat at such a jaunty angle!)
